| I like to encourage writers, while giving accurate, insightful, truthful feedback. Reviews for novel length items will be an overview and general comment. I don't review line by line or focus on grammar, spelling or punctuation -except perhaps if I see something affecting the storyline, or if I have suggestions relating to improving relevant areas of the work. |

| Disclaimer: I am not good at remembering to do requested reviews. Often I have busy things going on with work and my own novels, so sorry if I decline or don't remember to do a review in the short time given. Just a warning. When I review: Long. Depending on the type of story and reason for review I tend to get anywhere from 4,000 characters to on the rare occasion over 10,000. I will make overall comments, technical points and even offer sources when necessary but a lot is dependent on what I'm reviewing. I can even do a full edit but that's take a lot of niceness and time. |
| My approach is balanced and constructive. I begin by highlighting what works well in a piece—what captured my attention, moved me, or felt particularly well written. When needed, I provide suggestions for improvement, which may include identifying spelling or punctuation issues, or noting where adjustments could improve rhythm and readability. I sometimes comment on passages that might be unclear or seem out of place, always with the intent of helping the author strengthen their expression and flow. For me, the heart of good writing lies in its emotional resonance. I often ask, “Did you feel it?” or “How did it make you feel?”—not because the writer instructed the reader to feel a certain way, but because the words themselves created a genuine emotional response. |
| Please do not ask me to review your item if you do not want an honest response. I tend to be blunt, but if I can't say anything nice or don't understand your piece, I won't review it. I believe in the peanut butter sardine sandwich approach to critiquing work...something good, something bad, more good. |
| While I consider myself apt enough to provide decent, kind feedback, I'm not the sort of person to laud a man's writings. Instead, I seek to find smaller, more intricate points of interest within their writings so that I might offer suggestions and feedback so that they might better aid the flow of their work. |
| I'm honest but constructive. I'll explain why I give the number of stars I give and what you could do to improve that. I do fix grammar as well as look at style, emotional triggers, characters, and other things like that. I'll get back to you with a full review in a couple of days or so after the request, depending on the length of the item. |
| Minimalist. Focus on technical. I also look at how a work would fit into the traditional publishing landscape. I don't use a template. Warning: I am Australian, and so cultural differences may apply. |

I try to be honest and positive. My Christian faith is an important background factor. I hate rating low but have a system that determines how I grade.

| My goal is to give a detailed, organized review that highlights the positive characteristics of the work, while also touching on any areas that might benefit from some editing. | i'll tell you what i liked and didn't like in an overly nice way. in other words i will give you a compliment sandwich. but be warned, i usually can't get them done in the timeframe due to other obligations. they'll get done eventually but usually not right away. |
| In a single word, thorough. I will turn your piece upside down, shake the change out of its pockets and look at even the most minute details. I can be technical but will do so when emphasizing a larger point about the piece as a whole. |
